Bonjour à tous et toutes!
I hope that you all have been having a wonderful week!
So as any of you who have read my previous post know, this week I have been on break.
Let me tell you, it has been wonderful to have some time to just slow everything down and tackle the assignments that had started to fall by the wayside. While I do still have a few more projects that I haven't quite finished, almost everything is done, just in time for me to meet up with my dad and step-mom tomorrow for a wonderful week of exploration.
While it's been wonderful to have this calm week, I've also had to remind myself to get outside and keep experiencing Rennes, because I only have about a month left, which is really hard to come to terms with.
So, in an effort to appreciate this city and my life here, I've gone out for a walk, or lunch, or a random adventure with friends every day this week, and it's been phenomenal. Once again, I'll say that this is one of the best weeks of my semester abroad. One of my friends with whom I've spent a fair chunk of time this week kept telling me, "Profitez bien". Basically, to define this phrase I like to think of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's famous quote: "Seize the moment, cuz tomorrow you might be dead."
While Sarah, my friend who's been encouraging me to make the most of every day, isn't a vampire slayer, I feel like she's got the same sort of idea in mind. We only get this semester once in our life. And it's already almost over. So why would you stay inside all day, watching TV, when that's what you do in the US. We're here in a beautiful city that's older than our country, in a country that speaks one of the most beautiful languages, and we'll never have this same experience again. So you better bet I'm going to go out and appreciate what life has given to me, because I don't want to miss a second of my time here.
This is a mentality that I'm hoping I can bring back to my "normal life". Just because you're still in your house, your city, your state, doesn't mean that you shouldn't grab life and profitez bien.
On that note, I'm gonna sit out on my balcony and soak up some sun while I finish up that last bit of homework, before I have lunch with my host family.
I hope you all have a phenomenal week, and don't forget Sarah's advice!
A la prochaine fois!
Evelyn
